Lately, I have been reading about the No Child Left Behind program. The program is another brainchild of Marc Tucker. He served as an adviser to the Clinton regime. Some of his work includes Goals 2000 and School to Work. Although the Clinton regime is gone, his influence remains. The cradle to grave , government will take care of you mentality is still a big part of the NCLB program. Using methods akin to reconstruction, it seeks to prepare children for global citizenship with their typical Southern values hating, anti-gun, be ashamed of your culture, one global community swill.During reconstruction, attempts were made to level the playing field. This was done in order to make them good American citizens, and trust the federal government. They were taught to view themselves as “Americans first and Texans second”. They were taught that Texans were no better than children from other states or regions. That the values of the South were not better than those of other States.
We in the South are familiar with what happens when the federal government takes control of the schools, churches, courts and elections in order to ‘reconstruct’ the society. Our Yankee overlords took away Statehood, and remade us into military districts. They decided which teachers could teach our children and which pastors could preach in our pulpits, along with which churches were allowed to re-open their doors. Well, it is happening again. The No Child Left Behind program in combination with other measures (regional planning, using faith based organizations and other measures) put in place by the present regime effectively sets us much of the same machinery used against the South before.
Now is the time to read up on reconstruction and how it was done and how it was resisted and thwarted. It has only been repackaged and put on our children again. We need to preserve our culture, our values and our beliefs.
