Looking at TX-22 candidates: A blueprint for other districts

The saying goes that “all politics are local” remains true. Although much of the attention has been on national races, little has been said of local races, including those for CONgress Critter. Here in the 22nd Congressional District, there are a whole slew of challengers for the seat currently held by Nick Lampson. Nick is doing well in the fund raising department, which he usually does. The League does not support Nick. His stance on Bayport, support of educating the children of foreign nations ahead of our own, and support of many controversial pieces of legislation that reduced our freedoms and increased the size of the empire show that he is not a friend of freedom. I will be interested to see if the foreign monies that came into his campaign before are there again this time, along with many out of district funds.

Who are his contenders? There are many. Brian Klock, Bob Talton, Ronald Barkley, Cynthia Dunbar, Kevin Bazzy, Dean Hrbacek, John Manlove, Jim Squier, and Pete Olsen. There are others, yet I was unable to locate their websites. Most of the candidates have sold Republican credentials. The real question is are Southron values the same as Republican values? Although the protection of Second Amendment rights, legal reform, cutting taxes and protecting the border are held in common, there are some differences.

The League does not support the expansion of empire for any reason. That stance weeds out many of the candidates that express the desire to “Win the War on Terror”. Declaring a war on an idea is bizarre in the first place. Now people want to win that war. When it is usually governments that sponsor terror, it seems logical that war against that government needs to be declared rather than against the methods. If they really want to win such a war, first identify the nations which support terror with their monies. They will not do that, because it would offend some religious sensibilities. Those nations can oppress Christians, yet we will not speak out or call it like it is.

Supporting marriage sounds nice, but it is not the government’s job. When government became involved in marriages it was a mistake. The only reason such licenses were originally needed was because people were wanting to get married and the churches did not approve of their union. They used the government to get married and circumvent responsibility and accountability. Now the government has itself in a mess over marriage, and defining what it is. Had they left it in the hands of the churches, this would not have happened.

Healthcare issues are another sticky issue. It is not government’s business to provide healthcare.  If the politicians realized this, there would be fewer problems. Healthcare should not be something that government should be controlling access to. It needs to be market driven. There is no government program that automatically gives us cars to drive, why should the government have to give people healthcare?

You have to look carefully at their stands. For example, Dean Hrbacek uses his NRA membership to show his support for 2nd amendment rights. What many people don’t know is that the NRA has been highly involved in many of the gun control measures passed. It would stead him better if he was a member of Gunowners of America, which is more no nonsense in dealing with such issues.

Some of the candidates take some firm stands worth noting. Manlove wants to abolish the IRS. He sounds good on this, yet his actions concerning Bayport and expanding the power of his city beyond the boundaries it should have respected makes me cautions about the good rhetoric. Manlove along with some of the other candidates were mayors prior to running for office at this level. Look at what policies they implemented and consider that before voting for them. Look at what they did, not just what they say.

Jim Squier wants the rule of law respected and enforced. He also wants the feds to return the monies they confiscated from us with taxes. Pete Olsen wants to reduce the size of government. These are all good stands.  Ryan Rowley is the only candidate that even mentions the 10th amendment, which is key to putting government back on track. The Federal leviathan will not shrink without using the 10th amendment to chop off its tentacles, taxing and intrusive policies. The candidates of Squier and Rowley take stands that will do the people of the 22nd Congressional district the most good. It will be up to the voters to decide what kind of policies they will live under and who will best represent their views.

I encourage all the League members and readers to take a close look at the Congressional candidates in their respective districts and evaluate them in terms of where they stand on the issues. It is unlikely that we will find anyone who is totally aligned with our positions at this time, although those positions provide a good yard stick to measure them by.

    My website is www.ryan-rowley.com

I am all about restoring the vision our founders had for our nation.

I’m running a cause that goes well beyond the scope of this one election.

My web page explains the 3 most abused articles in our constitution.

I believe our founders would be upset to see what we have done to this great country.

    Ryan,

Thank you for replying. Seeing one of the candidates stand up for Biblical values and a commitment to Christ is encouraging. I had approached the campaign manager of one of the other candidates and never received any response at all. If the nation is going to turn around there needs to be people willing to stand up and address the issues, instead of protesting or using the courts to force changes.

Hello Blueprint, Howdy do! I am the John Wieder for Congress district 22. The number one goal, GOD given, I believe is
to Liberate our unborn Americans to have a life outside the womb. With the figures some people are quoting, the toll is
over 50,000,000 by now and climbing daily. There is alot
of out out cry for the 4000 American Soldiers that have gave
their life for our Freedom. It is dwarft by the number of
Americans that gave their life because they were considered
an inconvience. Life Begins ar Conception, and our constitution needs to be amended to say so.

How in the world after the first week of Roe v Wade decision our congress did not act on the unheard’s behalf. Yes there are other issues, but most lead right back to prodeath. Yes, too
many of our freedoms have been taken away and needs to be restored. Find me on my website and Click on the Petition
for Life and let your voice be heard to Pro choice candidates.
The emails will come from my website so they will not have your
contact information and will not be able to receive it either.
I want to thank all those candidates that are pro life for their beliefs. I want to appeal to them in the fall to Vote
for me instead, or have them say if your not voting for me
vote for John Wieder cause that is what I am going to say.

I am considering giving all of our voters in TX-22 an One hundred and forty three million reasons to vote for me. I
have been contemplating for a long time about the amount, but
when I saw they recalled 143,000,000 lbs of beef, because
they animals were treated badly, I had my number.

Many politicians are pro life but they are not willing to
go to war about it. In the near future, we plan on escalating
the current civil war to the next level. The war of politics
and dollars and sense. I am a vietnam vet and a college grad of the u of h clc. I did not believe in killing so I never carried my government issue m16 with me. May God bless all of us, US too.

    john
