Trans-Texas Corridors: A true hydra story

We have a multi-headed monster in Texas with the Trans-Texas Corridors. The Department of Transportation (TxDOT) was not content with just I-35, they also want the I-69 corridor as well. I had long suspected and commented that the bayport project was part of the big TTC plan, and now it is validated. What does this mean to Texians? Plenty! It means that land snatching will occur through in the areas of central, ,plains, coastal and east Texas. With the current real estate bust, the powers can clean up and purchase the land at fire sale prices. Perhaps it is coincidence that eminent domain cases were heard in the Supreme Court (e.g. Kelo v New London) was heard in the Supreme Court in 2005. Another case went to court in Virginia, although the State lost that one. Another one is under consideration in New Jersey. Such cases undermine the legal protections in the Constitution. They also serve to begin paving the way for such monsters as the Trans-Texas Corridor. Like a hydra, it seems that every time some progress is made in slowing down one head, another one pops up. Greek heroes knew how to deal with such monsters-Kill them! When you don’t kill them, they terrorize the population (in our case, they will ask for more taxes and bonds. I have seen this with Bayport, which routinely asks for more bonds, federal dollars and taxes. It is not enough that locals have to pay taxes to the Port, but then they want their fill of the slop at the federal pig trough.) There are other projects like Bayport that continue growing in size, costs and abuse toward the citizens.

We need some heroes like those in the Greek myths that will rise up and kill such monsters, severing their heads and saving the people. The TTC/Bayport is a threat to the freedoms and property of Texans throughout the state. If it does not effect you now directly through eminent domain, it will effect you through tolls, property taxes, automobile license fees, and property devaluations. It does effect us all both now and generations to come.

Free Texas!
