The times we live in.

While growing up, when I sat under fire and brimstone preachers, there were many words of wisdom coming from the pulpit. One that echoed back today louder than ever concerned the passage I Timothy 4:3. The passage talks about the coming apostasy. During that future (?) time they will be preaching "Forbidding to marry and commanding to abstain from meats, which God hath created to be received with thanksgiving of them which believe and know the truth". I did not fully comprehend the passage at the time. Now I do. In two recent stories from England, these things are coming to pass.Forbidding to marry Abstain from meat It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to connect the dots on this one. The land that gave us Spurgeon, how now given us some really way out policies. These would have seemed ludicrous to me as a youngin’, but now that I am older and see it occurring, I understand what Paul was saying in I Timothy.

I mentioned the agrarian lifestyle in previous post. With an agrarian lifestyle and good stewardship, we would eat plenty of meat. We would also be the husband to one wife and the wife of one husband. These are things that should go without saying, but in today’s culture such assumptions are no longer "common sense". (BTW-Common Sense was a term originated by the Scots to address the common morality that society should operate by). These are just some observations of today’s culture and where it fits in with the south and the Bible.

On reading such articles, it makes me wonder if we all need to go around with signs that say "Repent!". Although the trends in England are laughed at now, there will probably be some Hollywood personality or politician that thinks that those items are wonderful ideas and try to implement them here.

The very thinking that forbidding meat will reduce global warming is a sham. Global warming is a sham and if those academics bothered looking at the data, they would see so as well. But, there has never been a politician who is willing to pass up an opportunity to grab some more power at the people’s expense. It was those blasted English who gave the Yankee’s their arrogance in the first place.

Stewardship or hype?

As Southrons, one question that we all face in one form or another concerns the environment. The League takes a decidedly agrarian approach to those issues. We need to be good stewards of the land which God has given us. The environmentalists do not take that approach. They think government should protect the land and that more government laws is the solution to the problem. I am always suspect of any solution where increasing government involvement in our lives is proposed as a solution. You can rest assured that if government is the solution, they are selling you "meadow muffins" of enormous size.

There is a big difference between good stewardship and environmentalism. The biggest difference is where the ‘locus of control’ is. In agrarianism, it is the responsibility of the local farmer or land owner to care for his land. With environmentalism (which is nothing more than green communism) it is the government’s land and they are the ones in control of what is to be done with it. Is it surprising that the biggest pushers of ‘green’ are the socialist countries?  This is not to mention that all the hype is based on inaccurate science. They selectively look at the data that creates the hype, but ignore the rest.

Just in the history of ‘Texas". First the experts said that there would never be oil found in Texas. Then once it was discovered, the experts claimed that it would run out by the thirties, then they moved it to the sixties, then the eighties. Well my fellow Texians, do we still have oil? Is Texas still producing? One of my professors pointed out that you always want to see who underwrote the research. Once you know who paid for it, you will know what their agenda was. In the case of the experts, they were bought and paid for by the empire, so they pushed the empires agenda so that the empire gained more control. Now, when you see the environmental experts, look carefully at who is paying them and consider "what is their solution?". If they do not advocate personal responsibility, they are selling you something bad. Just this morning I was reading the Leonardo DiCaprio is hocking his new movie about the environment and it is purposely designed to make people feel bad. There is something wrong about that. Entertainment is about lifting us up or encouraging us or inspiring us. To bring the people down does not make sense to me, but that is par for the course of the environmental movement.

We do not need a bigger government. We do not need the Empire. We do not need the Yankee meddlers. We need independence. We need a return to stewardship.

Driven to the Southern Movement

If Yankees left the South alone, there would be no need for a League of the South. If the Southern people (Hispanic, Black, White, Asian, Indian, etc.) were left alone to live in peace and conduct business without government interference, there would be no need for the League of the South.

The reality of the world we live in, with illegal colonisation, law based on who pays the most rather than justice or the respect of law, courts ruling against the Christian values of the South in favor of pagan or idolatrous factions irrespective of law, when the Christian traditions are mocked and ridiculed in public by government officials and the media, when the voices of the Southern people are ignored by the occupational government, when taxes are so extreme that families have to labour almost half the year just to pay taxes, when abort/murder/infanticide are held up as the law of the land, despite the opposition of the people and the laws of God, when it cost more for our own children to be educated in Southern universities than it does for immigrants, something is wrong. There are many wrongs in the day in which we live. It is in response to such wrongs that the League raises a voice in opposition.

In a time when many churches no longer practice or exercise church discipline, let alone speak out on the issues, the League speaks out. When our children are presented with lies in the schools government indoctrination centers and taught to be ashamed of their heritage and their people, the League stands up to be counted and speak out. When politicians care more about feeding foreigners and giving foreign to other nations than it does to care about their own people, the League speaks out.

Many people involved with the Southern movement are there because they care about their communities and their states. They know that something is wrong. They wanted a place to go where people are like-minded. They are tired of the problems, and want something different. They do not believe that in order to have peace we need to sell out sovereignty. They do not believe that being indebted to Yankee and World Banks is the way to live. The debtor is servant to the lender. The government has borrowed itself into such a massive debt, that the future generations will be indentured servants to those nations. That is wrong. The occupational government has usurped a heritage that was not its to give away. Southerners love their states. They love Texas, North Carolina, Louisiana, etc. and want it to be the place of opportunity it was before. The League has a plan to deal with these and other issues. I like many other Southrons was driven to the Southern movement.

If you are tired of what has happened to your State, your family, your community all in the name of progress and the best interest of the united States, the League may be a place for you as well.

Heritage of Liberty

I was reading a collection of the writings of Albert Einstein this past weekend. I took on the project thinking that many consider him very intelligent. I thought, "what did he say in his words? What were his ideas? What did he think?". When it comes to science, his thoughts were fascinating and enlightening. When he addressed the events and politics of his day, he missed the boat. It was then that I realized that he grew up under the influence of imperialism. He saw nothing wrong with surrendering sovereignty if it brought about peace.  Although some individual are intelligent, if they do not have a heritage of freedom and liberty, they often come to some strange conclusions. Einsteins science changed the world, yet it politics were misguided and based on presuppositions that are antithetical to freedom loving people. He talked about intellectual freedom, but he did not have the recipe to make it happen. Thank the Good Lord he did not go into politics.

If you want to understand freedom and develop solutions to today’s political quagmire, consider reading people who have a heritage of freedom. If they were never exposed to liberty in their lifetimes or in their intellectual development, they will develop some strange presuppositions and come to the wrong conclusions. consider reading Calhoun, Dabney, Calvin or others who are part of the heritage of liberty to gain insights and ideas about how to approach political situations.

Remembering Memorial Day

Scripture tells us that we can gain more wisdom from the house of mourning than the house of mirth. "The heart of the wise is in the house of mourning: but the heart of fools is in the house of mirth" (Ecclesiastes 7:4). With this in mind, there is much to be gained in remembering and learning from those who have gone before us.

As the Sons of San Jacinto and the Alamo, our forefathers accomplished some astounding feats. Let us take some time and Selah (consider; meditate upon) their actions.

At Tunnel Hill, Granberry’s Texans found themselves without ammunition in the midst of the fighting. When this was discovered, they began throwing rocks. Their rock throwing repelled two Yankee attacks against their positions.

At Corinth, the Texans followed the able political leader William P. Rogers into combat. They pushed deep into the Yankee lines before being stopped. The reports talk about how bravely they fought. When the Yankees searched through the bodies of those brave Texians, they found that many of them made that brave stand on a diet of acorns. Think about that for a moment. They made a ferocious charge and fought like madmen on a diet of acorns. Could we do that today?

At Vicksburg, Waul’s Texas Legion re-captured a position lost earlier in the day’s fighting. After taking the position, the Yankees attempted taking it. They began by opening fire on the position with cannons from three sides. After the fierce bombardment, the Yankees assaulted the position where the Texians were. The defending Texians hurled cannon balls at them, with fuses like bombs. The ferocious hand to hand combat was legendary. The men of Waul’s Texas Legion held their position.

At Gaines Mill, the men of the Texas Brigade were ordered to take a position that other units had been unable to assail. They charged up the hill into a murderous hail of enemy fire and took the position. After taking the position, the Yankees opened fire with artillery and charged the position with cavalry. The Texians held, despite the numerous casualties they endured.

At Sabine Pass, a small group of Texians endured several hours of shelling and then opened fire with such a deadly accuracy, they repelled an invasion force over 10 times their numbers. That battle showed the world what a few determined men from Texas could do.

The list goes on, at Perryville, it was the charge of Terry’s Texas Rangers that changed the battle. At Corpus Christi, the Confederates under Alfred Hobby held firm despite several days bombardment from Yankee ships. During the Vicksburg campaign the 7th Texas Infantry held out against a whole Yankee army corps. The list goes on. Battles with names that few people even recognize like the Battle of Bordeaux, where Texans captured more men than they sent into battle.

Men like Hiram Granbury, Tom Green, Thomas Harrison, Elkanah Greer, William P. Rogers, Sul Ross, Santos Benavides, Benjamin McColloch, John Austin Wharton and Rip Ford. The list of honorable men from Texas is long and extensive.

There were also numerous Texians who gave their life in the army and navy of Texas. At the Battle of Campeche, the sailing ships of the Texas navy defeated the steam vessels of the Mexican navy. This was the first time that sailed ships defeated steam ships. At San Jacinto, the army of the Emperor of the West was defeated by an army of Texians much smaller than his own force.

Soldiers such as Roy Benevidez showed the world what determined men from Texas could do in Viet Nam. Commander Dealy showed the world what submarines could do in World War II. A small man from Texas who accomplished great things was Audie Murphy, who ended up being the most highly decorated veteran of the war.

During World War I, the units from Texas endured constant fighting, yet managed making constant success in advancing against the German defenders. The ‘tough hombres’ of the 36th and 90th divisions from Texas are the stuff of legends.

These men and the numerous others who deserve mention gave us the freedoms and heritage we have, one battle and one struggle at a time.

What have we learned from their sacrifices? Freedom requires effort. Freedom requires determination. Freedom requires men who are willing to stand and lead rather than those who bark orders from reinforced bunkers or Capitol hill. Let us ponder what we have done with the freedoms they have passed on to us. Have we preserved it for future generations or has it shrank on our watch? We can not evaluate a cause by whether it won or lost. We need to evaluate it on the basis of was it right or was it wrong?

Sadly, when the wives and daughters of Confederate soldiers sought to honor the graves of their dearly departed, the Yankees denied them from doing so on their memorial day. Although Texans had given so much in the Mexican War, and the Frontier, they were denied the privilege of honoring the fallen. This is part of Memorial Day as well.

If we truly wished to honor the Texans who gave all, the flags of Texas, and the Confederacy should be flown as well. At present, the occupational government frown upon the display of our banner, on the day set aside to honor those who died for what has become its empire.

In a free south, the fallen would be honored with the flags of the nations they served. The families would be allowed to mark the graves of their heroes. Let us strive to continue toward that day.

Dabney’s observations for today’s world.

The observations made by the thinkers during the War for Southern Independence are astonishing. Men like Alexander Stephens and R. L. Dabney made observations and predictions with uncanny accuracy.

Dabney commented that the more public schools you build, the more prisons will be needed.

"The parents are the real architects of their children’s destiny, and the State cannot help it"

"If it (the censoring of textbooks) is not corrected the liberty of the citizens is gone"

"The Government has no mission from God to make the community; on the contrary the community should make the Government."

"There can be, therefore no true education without moral culture, and no true moral culture without Christianity."

"To educate the mind without purifying the hear is but to ‘place a sharp sword in the hand of a madman’".

"(Government) has no money except by taxation."

"while man is mortal, the cause is immortal"

"the only possible result of this (women’s) movement will be, not the independence and equality of women, but the substitution of the savage dependence of the slave-concubine, the ‘weaker vessel’ held and abused by brute force.." (If you don’t believe this one, examine the words of a modern hip-hop album or watch TV for a few hours).

"Women’s Rights’ mean the abolition of all permanent marriage ties" (Do we not see this with a 50%+ divorce rate. If that does not say that marriage ties are not permanent I do not know what will persuade you).

I encourage you to read and ponder the insights of Dabney, Stephens and others. They will help you put modern life into perspective.

Information overload

During each day, when perusing the news, it is easy to feel overwhelmed. It seems as if all the forces of evil are attacking us on all sides. Well, they are.

-My heart is grieved over the murders in Knox County, Tennessee. The heinous aspects of the crime indicate that there are some evils abounding in the south. It reminds me of the Westerman murder several years ago. It seems that the evil continues worsening. It will be interesting to see if the trial of this black on white crime receives the coverage that the Duke lacrosse situation received.

-I was dumbfounded when the State Legislature passed a law protecting ports from frivilous lawsuits. What can the people do to keep ports from trampling on their rights? Now, even less. The surprising thing was that the sponsor was from an inland area of Texas. Something smells unripe when an inland based legislator is point man for passing port-oriented legislation. In the legislation they also made port police official law enforcement officers. Does this mean that until now, our ports have been protected by rent-a-cops? Seeing such legislation brings the realization that there are misplaced priorities in the whole securing the borders and making things safe.

-It was encouraging that Farmers Branch, Texas had the courage to pass an anti-illegal immigrant measure. The Empire moved quickly to prevent the enactment of the law. I was surprised to see how quickly the federalies shut it down. If we could get judge to move that quick on lawsuits, there would be no backlog anywhere in the State of Texas.

-The pressure to move the US/Canada/Mexico into the North American Union is continuing. I suspect if you follow the money, there are big bucks pushing for this union. This Strategic Prosperity Partnership is trouble for Southrons. My usual rule of thumb in dealing with the Empire is to reverse what they say and you will come closer to the truth (e.g. Insecurity and Debt Partnership is what we will likely have). The forces pushing for this do not want a Southern Nationalism to interfere with their precious plans. It is about numbers, the larger the number of peasants the more control they will have. Given the way government indoctrination centers (e.g. government schools) have dumbed people down, they want peasants populating the countryside. It is also not by chance that there are more agencies like the Bank of Canada talking about a North American currency (Amero).

If my read on history is correct, there will soon be a move to integrate history instruction to perpetuate the new myth of how the nations in the union share a common view of the world and a common history. There will likely be a move to squelch State and Southern regional pride as the pressure mounts to create their union.

Speaking of Empires, in Roman history, the Empire had to expand in order to obtain a larger tax base. As it expanded, it gave the right to vote to an ever increasing number of people which changed the quality of their representatives. The expansion mode continued until there was little to hold the empire together except force. During those times one of the big no-no’s a person did not want to do was to upset the "Pax" (peace) of the empire. Upsetting the Roman peace brought legions down into where you lived. Given the direction things are headed, after ‘hate crimes’ the next thing will likely be crimes that disrupt the peace. The hate crimes already head in that direction, but it is likely that more will follow. Given the present state of technology, big brother will look for anyone who says things that could ‘disrupt the peace’.

The answer to each of these issues, is Feds Out Of Dixie! When they leave, there will be no union. When they leave, there will be no meddling in local affairs, such as seen in Farmers Branch. When they leave, the courts can pursue justice rather than maintain some kind of quota or fairness doctrine in the courtrooms. It is not by chance that the Feds made Texas their whipping boy when they trampled our laws with Roe v. Wade, Lawrence v. Texas, the Ruiz prison case and other  intrusions (meddling) into the way things are done in Texas. (BTW, I address these cases and others in my newest book, Texans Always Move Them: A True History of Texas now available through Lulu.com).

Considering Independence

Although the words "Liberty" and "Independence" are often mentioned on websites like this and others, it is helpful to consider what does it mean and how can it be done?

A place to start is to exercise your own independence. The government has a vested interest in keeping you dependent on them. When you exercise independence, they loose power. Their biggest source of power is fear. The main fear is the fear of repercussion. People live in fear of what the government will do or what the neighbors or relatives will think. Fear brings bondage. When you think on your own, act on your own and reduce dependency, you begin taking steps toward independence.

Some of the things you can do that will enhance your independence include:

-1. Get out of debt. The less debt you have the greater the freedom you have.
-2. Operate on a cash basis.
-3. Read up on health and nutrition. With greater knowledge, you will be able to make better decisions. By staying ignorant of these matters, you become dependent on the medical establishment.
-4. Teach yourself a skill. Teach yourself some useful skill like mechanics, fishing, hunting, or how to build things. These are skill that will stay with you. When you are not dependent on others for those things, they have less power over you.
-5. Exercise your freedoms and liberties. When you start exercising your liberties you become more aware of them. Consider taking you gun out to the shooting range, or better yet, take it hunting. Consider exercising your freedom of speech by writing or speaking out on the issues of the day. If you are really daring use a product in a manner that is inconsistent with the warning labels. Think about it, the manufacturers or the government think that you are too mindless to figure out how to use it on your own, so they limit your use of products to what the label says. In doing so, you may have to overcome your fears of the "label police" that will automatically descend on your domicile the very moment that you use the product other than directed.
-6. Spend time with your family. Do things with them that consists of something more than pushing the ‘power on’ button on some electronic device or remote control.
-7. Read something that will encourage your mind to consider new ideas. Without taking in new ideas, it is as if the brain gets stale or lethargic. New ideas can provide the kind of stimulation needed to generate new ideas.
-8. Plant a garden. Grow some of your own food. This way, it does not have additives, colorings or chemicals that are often in processed food. If you are really daring , raise your own livestock or poultry. The eggs and meat you get from your own stock is much better than you will find in the stores.

These are just a few ideas to get you started exercising you won personal independence. Recall that before we can attain Southern independence, we have have to be living as "freemen". Slaves would have no use for independence. Peasants and peons do not know what to do with their liberties. Sadly, many people living in the south have developed a peasant or peon mentality.

The UT statues-an untold story

Much has been made about the Southern statues at UT in Austin. In researching the life of Pompeo Coppini, I found parts of the story that are often not told. It seems that when Littlefield, who was on the board of regents died before completion problems soon developed. Littlefield had been working with Coppini on what was to be a statement of how World War I brought together people from the North and South in common defense of the United States. When Littlefield died, Coppini found himself in a struggle with UT over arguments of artistic expression. It seems that UT did not want the artist to finish the project as planned. The University of Texas once again silenced freedom of speech and dictated how the artist was to complete the work, rather than let the artist speak. Coppini recognized that because it was out of context, that the statues would lead to conflict because they were not in the comprehensive artwork as he had designed it. So, UT has created the whole conflict and contentious situation on their campus. The establishment that hails itself a beacon of free speech has itself squelched artistic expression and created the problems on its campus. Some critics have mentioned the possibility of setting up the art as it was originally designed (what a unique idea!).  Many times in life, the conflicts we face are of our own doing, and universities are not immune.

We’ve been fooled again!

The Senate has taken a step toward opening the flood gates on illegal immigration. Although such policies are expected of democrats, the republican support is discouraging. It has come out that the group La Raza played a key role in drafting the thing.La Raza helped draft reform . That is like having the polecats decide how to run the chicken house. Is it any wonder that Alberto Gonzales, the Attorney General is a member of La Raza? Is there a surprise here-NO. The administration has not enforced the illegal immigration laws on the books so why should we be surprised that they sell out on this, when they are pushing for the NAFTA integration. Recall, that it was under Bush I that the NAFTA treaty was signed. The current policies are a only a continuation of the family legacy.

The League is against such sell-out legislation. When these people such as the Tyrant and the Gonzales sell out heritage (e.g. the Confederate plaques), it only logically follows that eventually they will sell out sovereignty and show the same disregard for the nation as in this legislation and numerous other privacy invading policies. Look at how the candidates deal with southern issues, that will tell their character and whether or not they will sell out the rest of the nation.
